Friday Sept 7 Washington DC
Today was a big day of sightseeing .Everyone departed the house at different times to grab the big sights. Carolyn and Maurice came with us and we headed off on foot and worked our way from the Congress Building to the Lincoln Memorial. We didn’t get to close to the White House as it has been very hot and humid and by the time we walked up to that area Russ thought using the telephoto lens was a good idea.
Dropped into 2 of the Smithsonian Museums – Aerospace and American History. Amazing. To get through all of them you would have to be there for a week!
Washington is full of amazing buildings – very impressive architecture both old and new.
12-13kms to have a look at
Capital building

Botanic Gardens

Ulysses s grant Memorial

Aerospace Museum
Natural History Museum

National American History Museum

War memorial
Reflective Pool
Lincoln Memorial

Took some time to sit and put our feet in reflection pool honouring the war veterans.
By the time we finished at Lincoln Memorial , everyone was stuffed so in the taxi with crazy Syrian who talked all the way back.
Sitting here with a Hard Lemonade after a huge day. fantastic but you need a lot more time here to do it justice.

Looks like you are having a great time, even before the motor bike riding. Hope Hurricane Florence doesn’t give you any grief. Take care. We are in Melbourne, Noel’s funeral today (Tuesday). Caught the red eye on Sunday. What a s#&t flight that one is. Not doing it again. No sleep. Back to Perth tomorrow 9.15 am. Much more civil. We will leave Perth on Thursday, heading east. Only 2 weeks and 1 day left for us. How quickly the time has slipped by! . Stay safe. 😀
ReplyDeleteYes amazing how the time has flown. Have a great trip home
