Tuesday September 18 Hot Springs AR to Moore Oklahoma

Heading west now into the wide open plains of Oklahoma. A surprise start with a beautiful ride through the last of the Arkansas parkway and then into farming country. Lots and lots and lots of wind farms. I know why- as we got onto the plains we got absolutely blasted by the wind and that went on for 200 miles. This is the area of the great Dust Bowl during the Great Depression where crops failed and people left their land and migrated west to California. Grapes of Wrath novel by John Steinbeck chronicled this.

Glad to get to our accommodation after all that buffeting. Moore is part of Oklahoma south and was wiped out by tornado in 2013. Quiet night with takeaway Indian and a glass of red.
